A new eatery specializing in crepes and sweet treats is opening soon in The Meadows community in Sarasota.
Darin Abdel is the owner of Crepetopia, inspired by her passion for desserts and the aim of bringing “something unique” to Sarasota. She envisioned a place that is both international and family-friendly.
“Crepes felt like the perfect base since they can be enjoyed in so many creative ways,” Abdel states in an email to the Business Observer. The menu includes an array of sweet crepes like strawberry Nutella, pistachio, and cinnamon toast crunch, all drizzled with either chocolate or Lotus butter—crafted from crushed Lotus Biscoff cookies.
In addition, the menu features an assortment of waffles, banana splits, ice cream sandwiches, chocolate-dipped strawberries, bananas, marshmallows, cream puffs, Dubai desserts, and milkshakes.
“The Dubai-inspired section of the menu reflects my Middle Eastern roots and travels,” Abdel mentions. “It showcases flavors like pistachio, Lotus, Kataifi, and chocolate-stuffed cookies—desserts typically found in Dubai cafés, but with our unique twist.” (Kataifi is a type of phyllo dough.)
Crepetopia is located at 4921 Ringwood Meadow in The Meadows. This 2,500-square-foot shop offers 24 seats inside and 20 outside. Scenic water views and walkability, along with proximity to UTC, influenced Abdel’s decision to select this location.
“It really felt like the right community to grow something special,” Abdel expresses.
Crepetopia’s grand opening is scheduled for Sept. 20, following a soft opening on Sept. 15.
