The Sarasota County School Police Department, along with local law enforcement, conducted thorough investigations into threats made against Venice Elementary and Englewood Elementary. Both threats were deemed not credible, as confirmed by school district spokeswoman Kelsey Whealy.
In response to these incidents, Garden Elementary School and Venice High School were also placed on lockdown due to their close vicinity to Venice Elementary. “Venice High did not receive a threat,” Whealy clarified in an email correspondence with ABC7.
Following the police’s assessment of the situation, all four schools successfully lifted their lockdowns when safety was restored.
