The Bradenton City Council has been actively exploring the sale of its governmental operations, especially after a recent appraisal revealed the property is valued at around $10 million.

In a significant development, the council selected the proposal from L&L Development Group as their preferred option among three contenders aiming to acquire the site.

Jim Zboril, the president of L&L, remarked, “We’re interested in a mix of uses. We want to create a vibe and energy that transforms Bradenton and lasts for years.”

The development plan, known as The Vias, suggests a dynamic combination of retail spaces, restaurants, apartments, condos, and a hotel.

Consultants engaged by the city estimate that this type of mixed-use project could contribute approximately $656 million to the region’s economy.

Discussions about the potential sale of City Hall have been ongoing for many years. During a special meeting last week, Bradenton Mayor Gene Brown emphasized the necessity of progressing with the sale.

“This has really been a 25- to 26-year process,” stated Mayor Brown. “Initially, the outlook was negative, but now we find ourselves in a positive position filled with opportunities.”

However, details regarding the purchase price and specific building designs have yet to be conclusively determined.

Further negotiations are necessary to finalize aspects like building height and density before a final sale can proceed.

Additionally, the Bradenton City Council will convene public meetings to discuss potential new locations for relocating both the government headquarters and the Bradenton Police Department, currently situated on the site.
