BRADENTON, Fla. – A Manatee County man has been arrested after allegedly shooting outside a Bradenton sports bar during a dispute on Black Friday. Following the incident, he reportedly boarded an Amtrak train headed to Georgia.
The shooting occurred shortly before 1 a.m. on November 29, when Ronnie D. Morton III, 23, got into an argument with a 25-year-old male and discharged several rounds, hitting the victim multiple times.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, four bystanders were also struck by bullets. Fortunately, all victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated and released from nearby hospitals.
A detective later found that Morton had been on the run for over a week and was traveling on an Amtrak train heading for North Carolina.

Investigators traced Morton’s cellphone, which was pinging on railroad tracks just north of Jacksonville the evening of December 7, indicating he was moving toward Georgia.
Detectives collaborated with Amtrak Police and the Savannah Police Department to effectuate Morton’s arrest early Sunday morning at the train station.
Authorities are still trying to identify another individual who was reportedly in the car with Morton when he fled the shooting scene on November 29.

Morton is described as a Black male wearing a black and silver shirt with the number 77.

Morton faces several charges, including five counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, felony possession of a firearm, and an armed robbery stemming from a prior warrant in Manatee County.
He is currently being held in the Chatham County Jail and will be extradited to Manatee County at a later date.
