SpaceX is on the brink of expanding its operations to Manatee County. Preliminary plans have been filed by the aerospace company founded by Elon Musk to construct a satellite communications facility in Myakka City.
The facility is proposed to be situated at 3350 County Road 675, just south of Lake Manatee and west of Waterbury Road, according to the Bradenton Herald.
As detailed in the submitted documents, the facility will feature a gravel compound spanning 0.73 acres, equipped with 40 satellite antennas and essential equipment.
This facility aims to facilitate data communication, enabling both uplink and downlink services.

SpaceX has garnered global attention for its impressive rocket launches and collaborations with NASA, and now it is looking to expand further in Florida.
The company plans to launch its first spaceship from the Kennedy Space Center by the end of the year, according to Florida Today.
SpaceX’s investment in the Space Coast is projected to reach $1.8 billion, potentially creating approximately 600 full-time jobs by 2030.

The Myakka City facility appears to align perfectly with SpaceX’s Starlink initiative, which provides internet connectivity through satellite technology. Starlink aims to deliver high-speed internet globally.
According to the company’s website, “Leveraging advanced satellites and user hardware coupled with our deep experience with both spacecraft and on-orbit operations, Starlink delivers high-speed, low-latency internet to users all over the world.”
At this stage, it remains unclear when construction for the Manatee County project will commence or if additional approvals from local officials are necessary.
SpaceX has yet to offer a public statement regarding the proposal.
