SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Sarasota County School Board Chair Tim Enos has announced his resignation to return to his previous position as chief of the Sarasota County Schools Police Department.
Enos, representing District 5, will officially step down on August 24, as detailed in a news release from Sarasota County Schools. Elected to the school board in 2022, he was selected as chair by the board in November 2024.
Prior to his involvement in the school board, Enos dedicated more than three decades to law enforcement, with over 22 years specifically focused on school safety, including his role as police chief for the Sarasota County Schools.
“While it has been an honor to serve as a school board member and board chair, my deepest passion has always been ensuring the safety of our students and staff,” Enos stated. “This new role allows me to focus all my efforts on strengthening school safety and continuing the work I have dedicated much of my career to.”
His extensive career includes serving as the executive director of the Florida Association of School Resource Officers, providing testimony before the Florida Legislature regarding school safety in the aftermath of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, and leading the implementation of significant safety enhancements across Sarasota County Schools.
“I can think of no better person to lead the Sarasota County Schools Police Department,” stated Superintendent Terry Connor. “Mr. Enos’s unmatched expertise in school safety, his deep knowledge of this department, and his commitment to protecting our students and staff make him the ideal choice for this critical position.”
