LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. — How did your elementary school student spend their summer? Visiting the beach? Summer camps? On vacation?
One 8-year-old from Lakewood Ranch dedicated his summer to preparing for a business launch.
What You Need To Know
- Dominic Faramarzifar, an 8-year-old, initiated his own business a few weeks ago
- He is gaining hands-on experience in business management with his dad’s guidance
- Dominic is also giving back: part of the proceeds will go to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office
Creativity extends beyond the classroom.
“These are all the designs we have. They cater to both youth and adults — and then we have this one, the entire page,” Dominic Faramarzifar explained.
At just 8 years old, Dominic is experiencing firsthand what it means to run a business, with support from his father.
He first envisioned owning a business about a year ago.
“It’s fun. I feel like a businessman,” he expressed.
Two weeks ago, he and his family launched “Dom’s Surf Shop.”
“I noticed my parents managing their businesses, and I thought, ‘I want to have a business, too.’ Then, (my dad) secured the domain ‘Dom’s Surf Shop.com,'” he shared.
Dominic primarily sells his products through dropshipping, where outside suppliers handle order fulfillment, but some items are sold directly from their home.
They have already completed several local sales.
“After a few days of sales, he thought all the earnings were his. We had to clarify for him that production entails costs,” remarked Dominic’s father, Ramin Faramarzifar.
In addition to operating the business, Dominic also participates in the design process.
As he prepares to enter third grade, he is considering backpacks specifically designed for his age group.
Dominic is also committed to community service. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
“Because they help us,” he noted.
Looking ahead, Dominic aims to apply his childhood learnings to establish a larger business.
“I really want to sell a flying car. I want to be the pioneer of flying cars. So I want to learn from Dom’s Surf Shop,” he said. “And I really hope I can meet Elon Musk because he owns SpaceX.”
While some may deem it unrealistic to aspire to meet the world’s richest individual, for this 8-year-old entrepreneur, perhaps the sky truly is the limit.
